Spring 1919: Two women from neighbouring villages cross paths near the cliffs along the Cornish coast.


The First World War has left both bereft – the older is widowed, the younger has stepped up to take responsibility within her father’s business, in the stead of her brothers who were deployed to the Western Front, but never returned. Even so, as she drives her cart, she sings, and the older woman asks how she is able to bring herself to do this, given her loss. The chorus gives her answer...
